Custom Contemporary Kitchen Remodel – Allentown, PA

Project Overview

Location : Allentown, PA

Project Type : Contemporary Kitchen Renovation

Timeline : 4 Months

Budget : $125,000

The homeowners wanted to transform an outdated kitchen into a modern, high-performance space designed for a serious home cook. Their goal was to integrate premium appliances—specifically a Wolf range and a high-capacity hood system—while avoiding the cost and disruption of a full kitchen replacement.

This project focused on thoughtful design, strategic reuse of existing elements, and custom solutions that delivered a refined contemporary aesthetic without compromising functionality or efficiency.

The Challenge

The existing kitchen presented several architectural and construction challenges that limited both layout and performance:

A curved radius wall with inconsistent geometry

Walls that were out of square, complicating cabinetry alignment

Existing cabinetry with varied construction and inconsistent sizing

An outdated layout that did not support modern cooking workflows

Limited natural light at the sink area

Rather than a complete demolition, the challenge was to work within the existing structure while elevating the space to meet modern expectations.

Our Solution

We approached this renovation with precision and restraint—selectively removing what no longer served the space and enhancing what could be preserved.

Removed select original cabinetry while retaining viable components

Refinished existing oak cabinetry in a bold black for a dramatic, modern look

Introduced new custom cabinetry to improve storage, functionality, and flow

Integrated quartzite countertops and a stainless steel island for durability and contrast

Installed a Nantucket Sinks stainless steel sink paired with Brizo Litze faucets in Luxe Gold

Added Baldwin Hardware Gramercy pulls to introduce subtle architectural detail

To elevate the overall feel of the kitchen:

Expanded the sink window to dramatically increase natural light

Water-popped the existing wood floors and refinished them with a custom Duraseal stain blend

Sealed floors with Bona Mega Extra Matte polyurethane for a natural, low-sheen finish

Unified the space with Benjamin Moore PM-2 paint on both walls and trim

The Transformation

This renovation balanced modern performance with thoughtful reuse, resulting in a kitchen that feels entirely new while respecting the home’s original structure.
